Maha Bu Baha in Mahaboudha, Kathmandu. The principal monument is a stupa of brick and stucco, set on a square stone base with two steps. Around the drum are shrines for the four Buddhas for the four cardinal points. The inscriptions tell of repairs to the Mahabuddha image in 1742 and 1857, and to the vihar in 1885 and afte the 1934 earthquake. The priest is a Shakya.
