EnviStats – India 2018

1 Mar 2018

EnviStats – India 2018 has been brought out by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. It is based on the United Nations Statistical Division’s ‘Framework for the Development of Environment Statistics’ (FDES 2013). This framework, which is broad and holistic in nature, provides an organising structure to guide the collection and compilation of environment statistics at the national level. The report contains statistical information about the condition of the environment – climate, water and wetlands, geology and geography, soil and land, forests and biodiversity, and air and water quality. It also provides data about the availability and use of minerals, energy, land, crops, livestock and water as well as air and water pollution and solid waste management. Besides this, it looks at natural and technological disasters, environmental conditions within human settlements, and societal and government efforts to protect the environment.    The report replaces two existing publications by the Central Statistics Office: Compendium of Environmental Statistics and Statistics Related to Climate Change.
