This small poetic composition belonging to the Punjab folklore called "kissa kav" describes a popular ceremony performed at the time of a wedding. It is called "Pattal". The bridal party is put under a spell just before they start eating a wedding feast by some womenfolk of the bride's household. The spell is removed only after the wedding guests pay a substantial ransom to the village womenfolk. These ceremonies have become the subject matter of many "kissas". It is pace entertainment and recollection of popular customs.
