The Faber Gallery of Oriental Art

This collection of paintings belongs to the central India, broadly speaking the state of Madhya Pradesh of modern India. These paintings mainly belong to the medieval period of fifteenth to 17th century. These paintings bear the characteristics of the contemporary religious, and their cultures namely Hinduism, Krishna cult, Islam, Buddhism and Jainism. These painting depicts heavily of nature, romance of the royalty, battle scenes, religious worship, cosmetic decoration of female figures, love-pangs, Hindu mythology. We get a glimpse into the contemporary modes of dress, architecture, popular colours, ornaments, jewellery. This collection is one of the finest specimens of medieval Indian art.
