This volume is a severe indictment of Hinduism and its glaring contradictions by Baba Sahib Ambedkar. He is very critical of the Hindu Brahmins of priestly class which misguided the masses by declaring that Hinduism was "Sanatan" or unchanging, and philosophy of the Vedas was infallible and incontrovertible. Dr Ambedkar calls the Brahmins extremely opportunistic who can abandon their Gods and scriptures purely for mercenary reasons. He calls Vedas – a worthless set of books and the riddles contained in Vedas as circumlocutory and confusing.Vedas, he says, are neither infallible nor sacred. Opposed to these contradictory riddles of Vedas, Ambedkar advocates the cultivation of spirit of enquiry, doubt and acquisition of knowledge to the mass of downtrodden and oppressed people to become an integral part of national mainstream. He mocks at the internecine wars between Hindu gods and goddesses and Brahmins support of both Ahimsa (non-violence) and Himsa (violence) whenever it suited their vested mercenary interests.
