[...] I have also utilised the information of the volumes of the Imperial Gazetteer of India and of those of the former States now integrated with Madhya-Bhärata; but in the case of the latter Vt it may be remarked that although the information they supply will doubtless be found useful for further work in the field it should be cautiously and carefully utilised since these works were not intendel to [...] The task of culling out the scattered references from the different types of writings and bringing them to a focus under the names of placis has been a matter of no small difficulty and this was increased not only by the lack of information regarding the districts of some out-of-the-way places and their exact location but also by the technical nature of the work itself. [...] Jain tlindu and Mohammedan remains; also those of a Buddhist temple important as being a specimen of a Buddhist temple of the 11th century A. D. in the heart of Malwa and giving the name of Bihar to the village at ASIR.
