In 1832 the question of mere effectively administering relief to the Non-Christian poor of Calcutta was considered and a Committee called the Native Comittee" consisting of Indian gentlemen only was set up for that purpose the Central Committee of the District Chariable Society itself continuing to look after the administration of relief to the Christian poor of Calcutta. [...] Location of the office of the Indian Committee.— The office of the Indian Committee continued to be located( 8 ) free of rent in a portion of the Jorasanko Rajbati No. [...] 500 on the occasion of the golden jubilee of his marriage to be added to the Fund already existing in the name of his father the late Mr. [...] 1 001 for the creation of the above Fund for the benefit of the Hindu poor. [...] a certain quantity of Standard Cloths to the Committee for sale to the public at the cotrolled prices the offer was readily accepted by the Comittee in view of the a.bnornial rise in the prices of cloths and the difficulty that was being experienced specially by( 10 ) the poorer section of the population in purchasing them.
