Space will be allotted in relation to the nature of a paper the amount of original observation included and the relative importance of the work. [...] Illustrative matter should not be sent in the form of unarranged drawings or photographs but be definitely arranged or allocated by the author as so many text-figures or plates as the case may be having due regard to the size and shape of the page of the Journal and the capacity of the drawings or photos for reduction. [...] The bacteriological diagnosis of cholera includes the isolation of V. cholera from the stool or vomit of a case under investigation and the identification of the vibrio by morphological cultural biochemical and serological procedures. [...] In the case of a specimen obtained by rectal swabbing the swab is immersed in the preserving medium and squeezed out against the side of the bottle. [...] In the event of the isolation of V. cholerce from any group the small remnant of the specimen contained in each of the bottles constituting the group is individually treated by enrichment and plating to determine which of those were contributory to the positive isolation of the group.
