Summary

They extended the work with n-alkanes by systematic investigation of the effects on the yield of adduct of time and temperature of the concentration of hydrocarbons urea and activator and of washing. [...] V.9 Jr ;=-- roUREA—ADDUCTS OF FATTY ACIDS 107 DiscussioN Sesame oil fatty acids.—In Table I the yield of the fatty acids from the adduct increases with the amount of urea used for adduct formation and corresponingly the yield of fatty acids in the raffinate decreases. [...] The iodine value of fatty acids obtained from the urea-adducts is lower than that of the original value of the fattty acids indicating that the saturated acids first form the adducts. [...] 1 the iodine values and_different percentages of adduct obtained are shown by the curve OA rising"1 UZ' T. N. MEHTA C. V. N. BAO D. N. LINGAM S. N. SHAH AND G. S. PBABHIT from O. the I. V. of saturated acids to 110 the I. V. of the mixture of fatty acids and I. V. of the acids from the raffinate are shown by the curve O'F. [...] They used the iodine number of the acid hydrolysis products to determine the extent of sulphation and the ester numbed of the hydrolysis products to measure the formation of lactone and ester type polymeric compounds.
