Indian geodesy has thus disclosed by far the largest known anmalies of gravitational attraction in the earth's crust and these have led to some of the most important developme4s of modern geodetic research whilst the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India enjoys an international reputation as a very valuable contribution to estimates of the size and figure of the earth. [...] The designation of Officer-in-charge of the Mathematical Instrument Office Calcutta has been changed to Superintendent' and those of the Works Manager and the Assistant Manager of the office have been changed to lAssistant Superintendents'. [...] 7. Awards.—His Majesty the King approved the award of the Founder's Medal of the Royal Geographical Society to Major Kenneth Mason M. C. R. E. for his connection between the surveys of India and Russian Turkistan through the Pamirs in 1913 and his organization and conduct of the Shaksgam Expedition of 1926. [...] A growing interest in the working of the scientific instruments of the Dehra Office has been evident from the greater number of visitors to the observatories during the year.
